Bone

OG
Hey fellow twinkers! :p;):D:)

It's Bone here your friendly baby sitt... urgh... I mean 19 twinker. Today I want to go over the use of Power Word: Shield! ;):):D

How I see other really sweet hearted and beautiful priests make oopsie boopsies (not mistakes that a bad word here on TI) is they use Power Word: Shield on cool-down on every ally in their proximity. There are two veryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy scary things that can happen when we do that boy n' girls. The shield could be purged off by a naughty shaman (no, no shaman no purgie! Bad shaman!) or incoming damage could break the shield slowly.

Now, our very best friend and great player, Mr. Random PUG, might die because we have put our instant cast ~1.2k heal on cool-down. We need to save that shield for when a person is taking a lot of damage quickly to avoid a penance travel time or flash heal cast time. The haste buff we gain afterwards also helps a little bit in getting a heal off to our hurting friend twink!

You're a smart cookie so you might ask: "The bad, bad shaman could still purge the shield, right Mr. Bone?" You're right they could but we've made their terrible lives a little more difficult because purging a shield instantly without it absorbing any damage is very unlikely and if they were spamming purge on a target to try to get it instantly then you'd be trading 1 of your globals for 1+ of theirs.

You can bubble people in the back-line sometimes to take pressure of the healers but you risk that shield being on cd when you actually need it for them and also you give the enemy rogue an opportunity to open with an ambush and know it will kill the target (when shield is down). Also anyone breaking off from mid or your general position is fine to shield since you won't be with them anyway.

I'm totally guilty of this, so I appreciate the explanation.

Sorry for being so quick to take action last time, as I know this is a struggle among you guys. But yes, the way a thread is worded can make all the difference!

I'm glad you guided me to turn some hearts!

You should be, the last thread was almost as bad as the discs you loathe so much lol. However, I think this is actually informative for some.

Imagine all the damage your entire teams taking off rend-ticks at once if you're not shielding essentially on CD.

It goes both ways, pre-healing is way better than pre-shielding anyways. Good teams will have timed purges lined up for burst on targets anyways.

It's not a difficult task to press your purge ability once on count-down swaps as all the burst hits a target.

I vote you post this in the 20-29 forums too <3

Probably a complete waste of time. F2Ps aren't going to read it. 19 rerolls have already read it here. Veteran 29s knew that a long time ago and will either continue to play badly out of choice, or continue to save PW: Shield for incoming burst.

I like to pre-bubble warriors, and monks right before they suicide into other team at the start of games.

I saw you in a pug yesterday. I recognized your name from this thread so I stayed in the game and you actually used PW:S correctly. I shed a tear of joy.
