Not true, chest timers are not affected at all by a server reset
 
Unless that's a recent change, then it hasn't ever affected me.

Could just be your luck.

Assuming that a chests spawn is decided upon the previous chests despawn...


Let's say you loot a chest and there's 15 minutes left before it spawns when the server restarts. 15 minutes after the restart the chest will spawn. The server restart doesn't affect the timer at all. In your case with not finding any chests, you would not have found any regardless of the server restart.

I've been chest farming Stonetalon out of boredom. It seems like the best spot to farm as horde due to the low traffic. One circle gets you all the flight plans and several of the chests are in horde friendly areas (i.e. no mobs beating on you). You can also buy healing potions at Sunrock Retreat. I wouldn't try it with a mage or lock since it is hard to get enough spell hit for the mobs.

If I remember correctly you will not be able to see chests in that area after completing the quests. I seem to recall testing this and it may have been answered more conclusively already in this thread.

I'm so sorry for bumping this so late after your comment, but as far as I know, Gatherer 2 keeps track of chests. Or it used to.
 
Sorry to be a downer. I loved the guide, very helpful. But after not finding chest in a couple of zones, Arathi Highlands mostly... I went and looked up the chests, there's this link Silverbound Treasure Chest - Object - World of Warcraft There's some chest spawns on the right side of the highlands that were missed, and I found 3 chests on the right side that i had overlooked multiple times. Thanks for the guide though!

I deemed the eastern chest locations to be not worth the time as they often drop higher level boes; only the spawns on the rough pathway from Hillsbrad to Wetlands were included. I believe it's mentioned somewhere in there. Thanks for the feedback!

Well crap. My bad. I just figure that it was better to at least see if they were there so that you could reset the timer on them and then possibly get the others to spawn. Thanks for lettin me know, I didn't read everything.

Yeah there is an addon that you can upload the wowhead info to your map to display were the chests are and were other people have discovered chests, forget the name tho.
 
*kabump* With the prospect of class templates leaving pvp I have taken up farming some of these chests, which by the way it is amazing that this information provided is still accurate.

If you do the Stonetalon Mountain quest chain it should be noted that once you get to Thal'darah Overlook there is a quest gives you access to quest item which enables flying making the gathering of the chest significantly simpler for that area :)
